Medical Marketing & Media features findings from a critical study “Patient-Centricity and DTC 2015”, conducted by WEGO Health.

April 9, 2015

BOSTON – Medical Marketing & Media features findings from a critical study “Patient-Centricity and DTC 2015,” conducted by WEGO Health.

The article “Patients do not feel connected to pharma” explores results from the study, which SVP of Strategy & Insights Todd Kolm refers to as “a wake-up call”.

Utilizing Truvio, WEGO Health’s mobile research platform, the survey asked patient influencers to share their viewpoints on healthcare and pharmaceutical industry relations with patients. More than 30 patient influencers and healthcare advocates, who represent more than 500,000 patients among their respective online communities, were surveyed.

WEGO Health is developing a whitepaper that expands on the study’s findings, and explores how the healthcare industry (Pharmaceuticals, Over-The-Counter manufacturers, and other key players in healthcare) can create more authentic connections with patients.

By recognizing the true needs of patients and their communities, the healthcare industry can create valuable programs, tools, and content that is built on a foundation of empathy.

BOSTON -(BUSINESS WIRE)–WEGO Health, a network of the most influential members of the online health community, today announced that its membership has topped 100,000 patient leaders.

“Critical mass matters because patient influencers act like caring, human cell towers – connecting people to each other and to health answers”

“Our patient influencer members are leading a revolution. Through them, health consumers are engaging each other by the millions, connecting into an explosive, organic force of health change with the power to overwhelm longstanding public health and industry challenges, and to reinvent the rules of communication,” said WEGO Health CEO Jack Barrette.

WEGO Health estimates its 100,000 members now reach more than 150 million people every month.

“Critical mass matters because patient influencers act like caring, human cell towers – connecting people to each other and to health answers,” says Barrette. “Now the influencer connector ‘towers’ are so numerous that virtually no patient call gets dropped. And just as mobile is reinventing the way we communicate, those millions of connections are making over health and healthcare.”

WEGO Health and TrialReach Partner to Accelerate Clinical Trial Awareness

August 11, 2014

BOSTON and LONDON –  TrialReach, the world’s largest provider of clinical research information and patient-clinical trial matching, today announced a new collaboration with WEGO Health, a social network comprised of over 100,000 patient influencers. WEGO Health will expand its TrialShare platform by incorporating TrialReach tools and resources directly so that members can research and share information about ongoing and upcoming clinical trials.

In addition, TrialReach and WEGO Health will kick-off a content development program focused on creating, sourcing and distributing educational materials around clinical trials and the participation process in order to boost awareness. WEGO Health’s patient community leaders will also be empowered to contribute their voices to further the conversation.

Reports indicate that up to 85 percent of cancer patients in the US are not aware that clinical trials might be an option, resulting in dramatically low participation rates of around four percent. Likewise, up to 20 percent of US cancer trials run by the NIH don’t have a single participant.

“Sadly, cancer is not an exception here,” said Pablo Graiver, CEO of TrialReach. “Together with WEGO Health we intend to break down the information barrier that exists between patients and researchers by giving patients the information they need and deserve through the leaders they trust. To change the status quo, it is imperative to truly bring patients closer to the centre of the process and we believe this collaboration will facilitate that.”

WEGO Health is a network for committed patient influencers to foster new relationships, to gain access to helpful resources, and to grow their communities. With ubiquitous access to the web and social media, and an average following of over 15,000 people each, these patient activists, health bloggers, and health social media mavens are the drivers of the patient-centric movement – and massive healthcare disruption.

“By joining forces with TrialReach, we will help every patient leader become an effective connector, unleashing their power to reinvent the patient community’s role in clinical trials,” said Jack Barrette, CEO of WEGO Health. “The patient empowerment movement is making over every part of healthcare, and our 100,000 patient leaders are the engines of that change every day.”

“We spent the better part of the last year working with our partners at Alchemy Factory to develop a new engagement platform that allows us to easily identify, educate, and activate our community to spread the word about clinical trials while rewarding our members for their efforts,” adds Barrette. The resulting platform, TrialShare, is currently being tested with a limited number of clients.

TrialReach is using technology to solve one of the biggest problems in clinical trials, helping patients and researchers connect.  Our mission is to empower millions of people to participate in clinical trials across the world to develop new medical treatments and find cures faster. TrialReach was launched in 2010 and is based in the US and London, UK. For more information, visit www.trialreach.com.

WEGO Health Introduces Truvio, the First Consumer Influencer-Powered, Voice-Response Mobile Research Platform for Healthcare and Biotech

September 30, 2013

WEGO Health (www.wegohealth.com), the first online home for consumer health opinion leaders, today announced a breakthrough in social consumer research with the introduction of Truvio (truvio.com), the first influencer-powered, voice-response mobile research platform for the healthcare and biotechnology industries.

Truvio is powered by the WEGO Health Activist Network of more than 65,000 opted-in and vetted consumer health influencers from more than 130 health conditions and topics. Each WEGO Health Activist actively contributes to multiple online health communities. With Truvio, health consultants, researchers and companies can tap into the wisdom of these informed and passionate consumer health opinion leaders, getting on-demand feedback instead of waiting for more traditional research.

Quantitative, Qualitative, and FAST

Truvio’s innovative mobile research platform accelerates the process of obtaining the true voice of health consumers, as the Truvio mobile platform collects results in real time and WEGO Health’s hyper-engaged consumer influencer members respond quickly with informed opinions.

Health Activists complete quantitative surveys via their smartphone’s keypad and are then prompted to provide qualitative comments verbally. This combination of mobile inputs improves response rates and delivers deeper results on topics that are mission-critical to researchers in a way that no standalone survey or focus group could deliver.

“Health is really social media’s higher calling and with Truvio, consumer health influencers are empowered to become change agents for the millions of patients who follow them,” said WEGO Health CEO Jack Barrette. “Advances in healthcare can’t wait. Truvio connects industry and influencers – fast – in a way that benefits both.”

Customizable Multimedia Capabilities Improve Results

“Truvio is built on our proprietary Vocalize Voice-Response platform to provide on-demand ’true voice‘ research from qualified Health Activists and opinion leaders,” said Fabio Gratton, Co-Founder and CEO of Vocalize. “Our unique platform helps researchers not only obtain meaningful results quickly, but also hear the emotion and nuance in our opinion leaders’ responses. It’s an extremely powerful combination.”

Truvio Industry Report Calls For Investment In Patient-Powered Innovation

An example of Truvio’s unique capabilities was on display at the recent WEGO Health Socialpalooza forum in Boston, MA. The event brought together over 40 leaders from healthcare providers, pharmaceutical and device companies, researchers, consultants, agencies, digital health startups, investors, and WEGO Health Activist consumers. In a day-long collaboration, these thought leaders conceived, designed and documented five new “consumer influencer-powered” startups that they believe deserve investor funding.

Within hours of the event, descriptions of the five proposed startups were posted on the Truvio platform, and top consumer health influencers from around the country were invited by SMS to review and comment. Less than 24 hours later, over 50 Truvio opinion leaders had completed poll questions – and left detailed voice comments about why they felt they would support a particular “startup.” The web-based Truvio report “5 Patient-powered Startups That Should Be Funded Today” is available today at www.truvio.com. It combines shark tank-style company proposals with “why I’d support this company” survey results and audio voice highlights from a nationwide panel of opinion leaders.

“When startups – or any health company – have on-demand access to health consumer influencers, they can hear from leaders who represent millions of followers. And giving health consumers a voice means taking the guesswork out,” Barrette said.

Built on the Vocalize Voice-Response platform, and powered by the WEGO Health Activist network, Truvio allows researchers to tap into the wisdom of over 65,000 consumer health opinion leaders across hundreds of health topics and conditions.
