It was a night of celebration, laughter, new friendships and even a few tears. The first ever live WEGO Health Awards ceremony could only be described as an absolute success.
The WEGO Health Network team, Julie, Kristen, and Jackie arrived Sunday to put together the final touches for our live ceremony and to prepare for one of the greatest moments in WEGO Health history. When Monday morning rolled around we were excited but also nervous for everything we had planned that day.
Once we arrived at the hotel, the 5th Annual Patient Advocacy Summit was in full swing and all the attendees had wonderful things to say about each of the sessions. Our team got started setting up our lights, cameras, winner’s plaques, photo frames and then we waited. It was almost like Christmas morning, just waiting to see who would be the first winner to arrive! One by one our eight honored guests arrived and they were all as delightful as we had hoped. Although everyone had just traveled near and far (really far like Austrailia and Brazil!) each one brought their own excitement and energy to the room.
Julie kicked off our ceremony with a touching dive into her story as a Patient Leader, which not only shared how amazing Julie is, but also helped everyone understand exactly why we were there that night. We were there to celebrate the work of Patient Leaders and honor the best of the best – who are this year’s WEGO Health Award winners.
As each winner came to the stage to accept their award and give their speeches, you couldn’t help but see how the crowd was awestruck by each and every one of them. It was a true honor to meet these eight inspiring individuals, and to hear more about their journeys.
We would like to give a big thank you to World Congress for partnering with us for this live ceremony and to everyone who nominated someone this WEGO Health Awards cycle. Without you, we would have never met the wonderful people who joined us at the first live WEGO Health Awards.
