HAWMC Day 2

Yesterday’s submissions were so fun to read! Today’s prompt will hopefully appeal to the writer in you.

Since we’re only on Day 2 so if you want to jump in and join HAWMC (or encourage a friend to join you); today would be a great day. Just sign up then write yesterday’s health acrostic and today’s post.

New Word of the Day Post! When we write, it’s natural to fall into a pattern, using the same set of words that found their way into our vocabulary over time. Maybe we use words we love or maybe we use words we say often. Well, let’s diversify! Today’s post prompt is: Go to Dictionary.com and check out their their extensive archive and pick any 1-3 WOTD (one from your birthday, perhaps?) that you didn’t know beforehand and write inspired by the new word(s). Your post can be as short or as long as you like.

Want to go old school? Grab a dictionary off your bookshelf and open to a random page and point – use that word (and enjoy the familiar, perhaps musty, scent of knowledge). They say using a word 5-7 times in context commits it to memory. As writers we can always benefit from new words in our arsenal 😉

Ambitious Activist Challenge Add-on: Pick 5 new words and work them all into your post.

Which words did you pick? How did you incorporate them into your post?

    1. Thanks for posting! I realized when I created the WOTD prompt that dictionary.com would pick whatever word they wanted and we’d have to use it haha. It’s a pretty interesting word, for sure. I tweaked to open it up a bit. No matter – you did a great job.nnGreat to see you join HAWMC – love what you’re doing on your blog – such an important perspective to have 🙂

  1. I picked the WOTD unctuous to write about. The sample quote really helped me get going and the post got a bit longer than I thought it would but I think it turned out greatnnhttp://www.our-journey-through-life.com/2011/04/hawmc-day-2-word-of-day.html

  2. My word of the day post was written yesterday before you tweaked the prompt. Maybe I will try to do it again but, until then this is all I got hahannGravitasnnhttp://diabetestalkfest.com/blog/?p=327
