Community Leader

WEGO Health is looking for a few great Community Leaders to join our team.

Community Leaders will:

  • Grow multiple WEGO Health Groups by:
    • Maintaining an active WEGO Health blog
    • Starting Group discussions
    • Creating email digests
    • Welcoming new members
  • Grow community membership through outreach to Health Activists and potential members
  • Complete traditional community moderation tasks as needed
  • Contribute to the community as a whole by interaction with other Community Leaders and WEGO Health members

You are:

  • A Health Activist!
  • Familiar with social media tools and platforms—blogging, discussion forums/message boards, Twitter, etc. (Familiarity with Ning would be a plus.)
  • Passionate about health
    • We want to hear from you regardless of whether you have a broad interest in health or are focused on a handful of specific areas of expertise
  • Adept at online research and naturally curious
  • A creative problem solver and networker
  • Interested in a permanent, part-time position—this role requires between 12 and 20 hours a week
  • Eager to be a part of a fun-loving, hard-working team

Online Community Marketing Manager

Work with the online community team to develop and execute overall online marketing and community strategies, plans, and communications, including:

1. Member Recruitment

  • Implement social media marketing and online outreach focused on social networks, blogs, forums and groups, etc. to find and retain new community members
  • Through customer relationship management, identify website users who could be considered for leadership roles in the community

2. Marketing

  • Conduct research on online marketing best practices and find ways we can be more effective in community outreach
  • Assist in customer acquisition and retention efforts, such as SEO, sweepstakes, cross-promotion initiatives and marketing partnerships
  • Create and present community building strategy and plans

3. Editorial

  • Engage community to and build community-specific newsletters
  • Author interviews, content reviews, blog posts, meeting announcements and more

4. Production

  • Monitor and contribute to user-generated-content
  • Launch new health specific communities
  • Coordinate online and offline community meetings, surveys, and polls

5. Management

  • Lead, coach and manage a growing team of Community Moderators and Leaders

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Boundless energy and intellectual curiosity
  • 1-3 years experience as an online community manager or customer care
  • A great sense of humor·
  • Comfort with technology, tools and cool new stuff, bordering on geeky
  • Good social skills online and in person - patience and wit are essential
  • Strong, professional writing skills online and in the normal course of business
  • Ability to work in a do-it-yourself, all-hands-on-deck startup environment


Social Media Account Manager

Execute and help evolve our innovative community sponsorship programs as a liaison between pharmaceutical/health companies and our community of online health community activists; support overall company marketing.

1. Sponsor Program Management

  • Implement social media marketing programs working with some of the world’s leading pharmaceutical and health companies
  • Execute all aspects of sponsor programs, working with our community team to find appropriate but effective ways to educate and engage
  • Coordinate and participate in market research, community education, technical development and program tracking efforts
  • Manage project plans and schedules, working with tech, community and product teams
  • Drive our on-time, everyone’s-happy, under-promise / over-deliver approach

2. New Sponsor Development

  • Develop program proposals and participate in new sponsor meetings
  • Identify new sponsors through active research
  • Brainstorm new program ideas to match community needs with sponsor goals

3. Company Marketing

  • Engage potential sponsors through public relations, including online press releases, conferences, company events, and more
  • Propose and try outlandish-yet-effective guerilla marketing ideas; live to tell the tale
  • Leap head-first into online social media marketing

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Relentless enthusiasm for our mission + energy and intellectual curiosity
  • 2-3 years of account service experience, ideally at an online agency or publisher
  • A strong working knowledge of health; pharmaceutical marketing experience a plus
  • A great sense of humor·
